Creek warming
« on: September 09, 2014, 06:15:22 PM »
Mid winter this year our family moved from our abode in the Richmond basin hills (complete with bass and cod river frontage) to the relative suburbia of the outskirts of town (albeit still on 30 acres) - kids have got to the age where they have afterschool - soccer, swimming, skate parking etc etc and we were blowing more than a $100 in diesel a week driving up and down the range so when the chance came to rent a friend of a friends place (while renting out our hill  abode) we jumped at it.  Now I would of never moved (in fact my response when my wife first suggested it was 'that's never going to happen!!) if the new place didn't had something to offer in the nature stakes - cause our old place had it in droves - new place has fully rainforest revegetated floodplain drainage lines, a km of main river frontage, is 5 minutes to the Brunswick river boat ramp (oh and has a nice house)....  when we moved here bass season was still closed - so I bided my time..... second day of season opening and Jules and I went for a bank based flick and caught five bass,.. none too big - today I took the dog for a walk (Jules is off to the skate park with his mate on his pushy) and I caught 3 bass the best one in his mid forties - all on a little soft plastic shrimp pattern made in north Queensland (bought at the Townsville markets) - works a treat - swims right way up and has a small belly based spinner blade that perfectly replicates swimming shrimp legs - least the bass thought so....  looking forward to exploring this creek more - found juvenile Jungle perch in it last year - now going to find an adult one!! So far a perfect creek warming  :youbeauty
