Overnighter
« on: May 26, 2013, 05:44:44 PM »
Decided to do an overnighter with a few mates down on the Dumaresq to try some new water.

Got there Friday arvo with showers and wind hanging about for a few hours and ended up with a couple of Cod, a few misses and an appreciation for warmer weather.
We started fishing the main stretch of the river and only being relatively new to cod fishing it was good put into practice what I've been reading; ended up with a 72cm Cod (PB) caught on a Green/Black Tarki Garra Lure.
On the Saturday we tried another area that we spent more time out of the kayak then in it! But it was still productive with my mate catching is first Cod, a 59cm model.
After about 3 hours of carting the kayak around logs, over logs and through logs I came across a nice pool of water that housed a nice 68cm Cod, this time caught on a White/Black Tarki Garra Lure.
For the rest of the day we had a few misses and a couple of decent strikes but nothing to show for; nice part of the world down there, but next time I will be packing the thermal socks, my feet are still trying to recover!

PS. Dave, I think I found one of your Tera's.

The white and black zebra colour in a Tera used to be my 'go to' lure. Green and black has replaced it since December.

How cold is the water? Achingly cold would describe it well. In summer , at least you can cool off and have a swim often.

Some sexy looking snags in that part of the river mate.  ;)

Cheers,
Dave.

Water was pretty cold, but around the back where it has pooled up isn't too bad. Some really good snags there now the water level has dropped.
First time I've used the Green and Black Tarki, the Zebra has been really consistent over the past few trips.
