Footbridge installed at Lamberts Dam

To improve safety and access for anglers at Lamberts Dam at Railton the IFS has installed a new steel footbridge across the spillway.

The new bridge provides easy access for anglers to cross the spillway and access the dam wall and western shore of the dam.

IFS would like to thank Equity Labour Services (ELS) for the construction and installation and Paul Lambert for providing public access to the dam for anglers.

We're pretty safe Peter, all the trout they tried to release up here died out because of the heat, and much has been learned about translocation of invasive species since 1864.  Tassie was a bit like West Aussie with no native freshwater angling species that I'm aware of.  The 4 species of Salmanoids they introduced have thrived though.  They are fun to catch and good to eat.  Tasmanians ever frown on catch and release with trout.  I'm very, very impressed with how the Tasmanian Inland Fisheries Service promote and provided for recreational angling.  Up here, "inland" angling is under the same umbrella as "offshore" angling and even "professional" fishing, so it comes in a very poor 3rd place.
You need to see the facilities provided for anglers in Tassie, with things like this new footbridge, other new styles over fences and new walkways.  Anglers are treated as welcome guests by many private land holders, and not as unwelcome trespassers like we see up here.
