Most elastic mono?
« on: January 09, 2011, 08:49:50 PM »
I'm out of light the lightest Knotted Dogs and am off to Eucumbene. Rather than learn how to make the buggers I figured to create some leaders - nine feet or so as with fly - "looped" at both ends. It's been that long since I've used mono as a mainline that I can't recall which was the "stretchy-est". My ageing grey matter has some notion that Maxima was always a bit of a bungy string.

Any ideas on what might make a nine or ten foot bungy for Harro's eight pount Bionic or four pound Fireline??

Take a look at Shogun, or Platypus Pretest as a starter.

JM is right on!
I'd go the homeside with Playypus Pre-test.  Has nearly 30% stretch and a bigger diametre.
Shogun is OK but is the same as a number of "leader" brands from the same maker that are
re-spooled and badged.

Thanks lads: the home grown stuff it is. 30% sounds plenty over ten feet or so. Just as long as it has a little give - especially for the graphite overheads; the 2-3kg 6' Ugly Sticks supply a ready cushion for the eggbeaters.

That might be dangerous whilst having a beer or several. I've visions of myself resembling the cicada that flew into a tree spider's web the other day: all wrapped up and nowhere to go...
