Salty Croc in the Mary River

What a surprise we had when we were analysing images from our wildlife camera that was supposed to be monitoring white throated snapping turtles leaving the river to nest.........Most evenings there were many images of turtles cruising along the edge of the river. However, not on the evening of the 29th June. Instead at 7.57pm, a saltwater crocodile appeared in a photo.....Department of Environment staff have confirmed the sighting of this saltwater croc living in fresh water. The location at Pioneers Rest is very close to Petrie Park at Tiaro where many people camp, swim and boat. Please share and alert everyone to be crocwise even in the freshwater of the Mary River.
