Lake Somerset changes are on the way
 Date:  04/07/2014  - Seqwater

Paddle craft and fishing enthusiasts will be excited to hear that construction on the new access point at the northern end of Lake Somserset off Westvale Road is underway. It is anticipated that this will be completed in August. This project is being implemented with the support of the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing – Getting more people active through sport and recreation. Stay tuned for further updates.

Due to the safety risks posed by submerged hazards, a 6 knot speed limit in the northern part of Lake Somerset has been endorsed by Marine Safety Queensland (MSQ). Signage will be erected at all launch points advising of the 6 knot speed limit area. Seqwater staff will continue to actively patrol the lake, and will monitor speeding in this northern area. Details of the boundaries of the zone can be viewed HERE>>> or see attachment below.

I was told today that you no longer have to pay to launch at Kirklea .
Can anyone confirm this?
 Cheers

To the best of my knowledge any boating permit holders dont have to pay to launch at Kirkleagh? Is that not the case?

I've never been asked.....

I have not been there you years but I was told that you had to pay at the gatehouse for entry unless you were camping there.

I think you need a PIN for the gate but I also think they issue you one for the day free.
