Motorguide
« on: July 20, 2012, 04:14:08 PM »
Anyone considering the purchase of a new Electric motor should have a look at this. A good mate of mine has been a great fan of Motorguide  for some time, so when his 6year old 72 bowmount crapped out he went to the local dealer to see about repairs. He was a bit taken aback to learn that parts were no longer available for his motor! He had already ordered and paid for a new motor and wanted to fix up the old one and keep it as a spare. Had he known that parts would not be available further down the track he would have bought a Minn Kota. We wrote to Motorguide US who simply referred us back to the Australian distributor, Mercury who said the same thing. No sorry about that or we'll see if we can source some parts, just NO. Needless to say that's last Motorguide he'll be buying. Kind of makes you wonder if parts for a 6year old Merc would have the same problem.

Very difficult to get motorguides here at all. I'd have instead ogf my kotta if I could.

Tell your mate to try ebay, certainly much cheaper to get Kotta parts that way, also a lot of parts you cant get here, or a long time before they are available here.

Father got an Ipilot conversion for his Kotta from the states for less than half the cost here.

My mate has this love of Motorguides mainly because of the cradle that comes with them I think. But he's not so sure now.
