Lake Boga blue-green algae warning removed

Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) has removed the blue-green algae warning at Lake Boga.

The warning for blue-green algae was initially issued at Lake Boga in February.

GMW Head of Customer Service and Operations Daniel Irwin said the move followed a
 significant decline in blue-green algae levels.

“GMW will continue to conduct regular water quality monitoring and observations throughout
 the year,’’ Mr Irwin said.

“If blue-green algae reach levels deemed unsafe by national health guidelines, GMW will
 issue another blue-green algae warning.”

Currently there no warnings for blue-green algae at any of GMW’s water storages.

Water users and customers are advised to remain vigilant for signs of blue-green algae in all
 lakes, waterways and in the irrigation system. Water supplied by GMW is not fit for any use
 that may involve human consumption, either directly or indirectly, without first being properly
 treated.
