Totally addicted to bass...!
« on: December 19, 2011, 08:22:15 PM »
Hey guys, thought I would share the fishing I got up to recently (before this last batch of rain).
I had not caught a bass until just over a month ago, so I was determined to crack that first! I headed off to Colleges crossing where I managed my first bass after a couple of sessions land based, going 47cm I was stoked at that effort. A couple more soon followed in similar size!
Then with the arrival of my new yak I was finally able to get out and find some more territory. Launching again from Colleges, I was hopeful to christen the new yak. I sure got the chance to, landing just under a dozen good size fish between 40-50cm.
Another session shortly after resulted in my PB of 55.5cm :D Absolutely awesome fish, as soon as I was on I called it for a much better fish then my previous pb of 50cm.
Then off chasing a whole different territory with Bracey, he managed to put me onto my first wild bass on the surface! Such an awesome way of fishing for them, watching the visual strikes is zero to none! Ofcourse this meant I was addicted to this surface lure thing..  ::)
Another place I managed to get to was Lake Cressbrooke, being the first time there only managed to pull in 2 bass, both around 35cm. One stood out brightly though.. late afternoon with plenty of cloud cover and the sun dipping quickly. I thought it must be about time to rip out the surface walkers ;) I was rewarded within 2 casts with my zip'n ziggy claiming its first scalp!
So with much more summer to come, I just hope this weather pans out and is kind. The local rivers look like a farm dam, smell like one to!!
Can't say much more but... I'm totally addicted to bass... ;)  :youbeauty
