More from the Ord
« on: March 29, 2011, 04:16:09 PM »
Sun is out be it only for a short while, roads still miles too wet so the trip into the Ord is still around the long way.  We gave it a good nudge yesterday for plenty of fish, nothing over 90cm but never a quiet moment.

The main river flow is as strong as I've seen it so anywhere out of the flow, particularly if it has some run off holds fish feeding.  We started and finished the day with a boof session.

Here's the pics -

Picture 3 clearly shows a different strain of barramundi to any typical fish from the east. Our barra don't look like that. There's some pretty varied looking barra strains from around the country.
Thanks Dick. A dime a dozen it seems. I'd kill to be there, and about fifty other places. ha..

Yeah it was easy pickings JM the challenge was to see how long you could sustain  a bite before moving on to the next drain.  Lures, fly, live bait and mullet strips all were on the menu.  Despite some frantic bust ups in front of us the fish got pretty picky after a while.

You can still learn a lot from easy sessions if you keep your mind on that needs to happen next rather than being swept up in the moment.

As for the different strains, wondered why your fish boofed with an accent ;D

It's not going anywhere fast Paul so you've got all the time you have :thumbsup

BTW tried those z man swimmers you have mentioned in the past.  Apart from the mistake of chucking them in on other plastics they were a revelation.  Got three fish on one and it was as good as it was out of the packet.  There's only one other thing I can think of that stretches so much and still comes back into shape ;)

They wobble pretty good as well :)

No Lyndon Dog was at home, if there;s a chance of us working mud banks form the shore she stays at home, no need for her to turn into croc poo :)

More top gear from the west Dick. Better keep your home address on the down low, could have a mob of rod carrying Easterners at your front door.
Cheers mate,
JD

No. 66 Outback Alley, Ord River, WA.
- or , turn left at the 200,000,000th Boab north of Perth.

Just look for a kung foo shirt or a guy in the long grass with a radio tracking dog device.
