Manchester opened to paddling and fishing
SEQWater 19/11/14

Paddling and fishing on Lake Manchester is now permitted, a direct result of the feedback we received during the recreation review.

Due to the topography and access limitations around the lake, the launch point is located over 1km from the recreation area and car park. Travel to the launch point by vehicle is not feasible and paddlers are required to transport their equipment to and from the launch point by foot, via the recreation area located off Lake Manchester Road. Paddling at Lake Manchester will be more challenging compared to other sites and will require a good level of fitness. Those looking for a fitness adventure, this may be for you!

Enjoy putting a line in? Fishing is permitted from the shoreline of the launch area and from paddle craft. Please remember that motorised watercraft and swimming are prohibited at Lake Manchester.

For further information on Lake Manchester, including a list of permitted activities, visit the Seqwater website to download your copy of the Lake Manchester Recreation Guide.Sorry, only registered users can see this content. Please Login or Register.

That has to make Shines Road look like a walk in the park.   1 kilometre portage from Car Park to launch point.  At least it won't be crowded.

Will a yak trolley cut it? Or is it mountain goat country?

No idea, but I'd bet SEQWater had a track to put the launch area in.

Ummmmmm maybe.....  :-X  :Oops) BUT, it was almost drained not that long ago, not sure how if anything would have survived.

Used to see alot of eels & big gold fish swimming around on some hikes around the lake....

A kayak trolley would be fine. It's a gravel road / track from the car park down the gully & up the hill on the other side to the fire track on the other side of the dam wall.

I used to go there alot. Be VERY careful not to leave anything in your car at the car park. I've heard of several cars being broken into there & actually saw one guy put a rock through a window there in plain view of several people snatch a hand bag from the front seat & jump into a mates get away car, just didn't care.....

Hey good people,

My First post!

Has anyone done a recce of LM?  I know the official word from SEQ water is gold fish only, but surely some bass or other fish would have crept into the dam over time?

Cheers

I'd wager that some Tilapia have found their way in there some how, some way, some time during/after the floods.  :(

Many thanks and thanks for the welcome.  The fingerling release is exciting...its 5 mins down the road for me.  I might give it a go in the next year or so, or sooner if i get the itch versus Kholo bridge etc.

Cheers
