Some lakes re-opened to on-water recreation

Date:
    23/02/2015

We have re-opened the following lakes to water-based recreation following the severe weather event:

    Hinze Dam
    Lake Atkinson (excluding swimming)
    Lake Dyer
    Lake Moogerah
    Lake Maroon
Lake Somerset (excluding primary recreation activities such as swimming and water skiing)
Lake Wivenhoe (excluding swimming while water quality testing is conducted).

The following lakes will remain closed to water-based recreation until further notice:

    Enoggera Reservoir
    Ewen Maddock Dam
    Lake Baroon
    Lake Borumba
    Lake Kurwongbah (Sideling Creek Dam)
    Lake Macdonald
    Lake Manchester
    Lake Samsonvale (North Pine Dam)
    Lake Wyaralong

We understand people are keen to get back on the water but visitor safety is our priority.

All other lakes are being checked and we’ll re-open them for water-based recreation activities ASAP.

Remember to play it safe and thanks for your patience following the severe weather event.
Lake Atkinson: Swimming area closed due to debris

Date:
    23/02/2015

The swimming area at Lake Atkinson is temporarily closed while reports of debris in the water are investigated.

Please play it safe and follow all signage and the directions of Seqwater staff.

We will re-open the swimming area as soon as possible.

Lake Somerset re-opened to secondary contact recreation activities Monday 23 February 2015

Date:
    23/02/2015

Lake Somerset has re-opened to secondary contact recreation activities such as boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing from Monday 23 February 2015.

The lake will remain closed to primary contact recreation activities such as swimming and water skiing while we undertake water quality testing.

We urge all visitors take extra caution, as conditions may have changed as a result of the recent rain event.

Remember to play it safe – our rangers can’t be everywhere to help you.

fishing ethics are the things that we do when we are unobserved by others!!
