Jungle perch in the south east.
« on: March 18, 2013, 06:21:23 PM »
Hi guys just curious as to see if any one knows of any healty populations of jps ( other thn Fraser) in south east Queensland. I've been doing some research about the streams that run to the salt from the glass house mtns. Would this be a good place to start my search. I'm not asking for secret spots just don't want to waste my time if they are non existent this far south.
Any help would be great. Don't be scared to post some local caught pics.
Thanks andrew

If you look through some earlier posts you may come across one that Jim Tait put up about JP's. They are apparently down as far as the Richmond in Northern NSW. But don't expect to hook one with any sort of reliability.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have read all the older posts And was blown away, I have since asked a lot of people and also fished some perfect Jp habitat for not s sign. Spots like upper crystal creek. Lets just hope the active breeding takes off. There is something about catch jps in the jungle that really ticks my boxes.

I don't think they'll let you fish for those ones at Bribie.  They are a bit busy there.

Did they source brood stock from the Brisbane River?

It's thick with them up the top, we just don't catch them because we can't get the lures past those pesky 60cm Bass.
