When
you hear
folks talking of big barramundi, one name that almost always
gets a mention is Lake Prosperpine (Peter Faust Dam), or more
commonly known simply as Faust Dam or Lake Prossy. Big fish
lurking in standing timber that is barely navigable by boat
makes for some excellent fishing!
Built across the Proserpine River, Lake Proserpine is a fairly
big body of water when full.
Situated just 26km inland of Proserpine & fairly close to
the coastline, sea breezes can play a big part in successfully
hooking a fish of a lifetime (landing it is another thing!).
Of all of the great Barra Lakes around, it is Faust that is
nowadays the benchmark the others are compared to.
For anyone travelling to Airlie Beach or the Whitsunday Islands,
Peter Faust Dam / Lake Prosperpine is an anglers must do while
there.
Fish
Restocking Group:
Lake Proserpine is stocked by the Faust Dam Fish Stocking Assn.
