Anyone had a go of the new Shimano Chronarch yet? I'm thinking of casting the New year in ...

I got a Chronarch for my birthday back in October . I love it. It seems to be much smoother than my Alphas and casts a lot better.
Cheers,
Dave.

Sorry to jump in, is that rod a Cape Yorker? I just got one for Caleb for his first rod. Looks like a good reasonably priced Kayak rod.

Yep , Gladiator Cape Yorker . StevenM discovered these reasonably priced baitcaster rods and I just copied him cause he's my hero
. Only 4ft long , I use them for everything . Steve calls these rods by another name though

Thanks for the reply Nov, I've got an Alphas and if that Chronarch is smoother it must be like bloody butter!

The new Chronarchs are effectively identical to the old Curado E models and are also made in Japan. Same bearing count and construction, just a different paint job. They were introduced for the American market because their economy has tanked and anglers were not buying the previous (better) Chronarchs which cost alot more more than the old Curado Es. The 50E is a nice model - I have the Jap equivalent which is a Scorpion XT1000 - and it will throw lures from 7g and up with no dramas.
