Learnt a lesson the hard way today. Wivenhoe is now the proud owner of a Shimano River Raider baitcast rod and a Shimano Citica reel. I am shattered!
It all happened so fast - made a cast and must have knocked the rod butt on something near my yak seat. Nek minute, it jumps right out of my hand and sinks into 20-odd feet of water with me groping in a futile attempt to reach it.
If there are any sweetwater fishos that happen to be bottom bashing at the small cliff face across Logan Inlet from Lumley Hill and dredge up my pride and joy anytime soon, I would be eternally grateful if you could let me know. Not holding my breath though.
The moral of the story - get some rod leashes NOW.
Cheers Guys,
Beetle.

Go back there with a big treble and a big ball sinker and start dragging the bottom.
Funnily enough though, I bet you still catch a few forkies, geez they are dumb.
Good luck,
Dave.

Thanks Dave. Won't be able to get back there for about two weeks though. Still, I'll give it a crack when I'm next out. You never know.

Mate I know your pain, I dropped an Alphas on a Samaki rod in the Richmond a while back. It was in 10m but we dragged the bottom and got it back. Happy ending for once.
