Situated
approx 15 kms west of Warwick, Leslie Dam has been one of
Queensland's most popular freshwater destinations for many
years.
Lake Leslie is an average size impoundment having a surface
area of 1250 ha, an average depth of 8.4 metres and holds
106000 ML at full capacity.
Fishing
The local fish stocking group have worked tirelessly to
stock large numbers of Golden Perch (Yellowbelly), Silver
Perch and Murray Cod to bolster the natural populations
of Spangled Perch and Eel-Tailed Catfish.
Golden Perch dominate most catches for lure / fly anglers,
while Silver Perch and Eel-Tailed Catfish (dewfish) are
more of a bait fishing prospect.
There
are many large boulders around the fringes and some standing
timber in the upper reaches of Sandy Creek so care should
be taken when navigating in these areas.
A Stocked Impoundment Permit (SIP) is required to fish at
Leslie Dam (Lake Leslie).
Closed Waters are in place at the dam and fishing is prohibited
200 metres upstream and 400 metres downstream of the wall.
